If only our liberal media could somehow find the strength to channel this vibe…
I really don’t care who McCain is or is not schtupping, no matter what the most liberal newspaper says.
I do care when McCain’s campaign staff contains former (and presumed future) lobbyists, at one point more than any other campaign, some of whom are working gratis. This seems to run counter to the reform and honesty plank of the Straight Talk Express. One can’t help but think back to his involvement as one of the Keating Five during the Savings and Loan scandal of the early 1990s. McCain is also no stranger to creative campaign financing – note that in order to secure a loan, he had to pledge to get public financing if his campaign faltered, secured by both his mailing losts and a life insurance policy (he IS in his 70s, after all).
The struggling Philadelphia Inquirer, helmed by Neo-Press Lord Brian Tierney is offsetting declining advertising revenue with threats of ‘outsourcing’ and layoffs as well as a price increase of $0.25. a short front page paragraph explains the price changes. Will this be enough to stave the paper’s ongoing decline, despite two instances of flying pigs?
In other news, the Inky’s idea of fair-and-balanced is a front page which gives the media-anointed likely Republican Presidential nominee Senator John McCain two thirds of the photo space related to the story. Senators Clinton and Obama meanwhile must share the balance, with 1/6 of the space for each. I suppose this innoculates them from cries of liberal media.
I'm trying to find defenders of Cheney somewhere online, but so far all I've gotten are the deranged at LGF in the comment thread and the occasional drive-by troll in the WaPo comment thread, comments such as these:
In true wingnut fashion, "a gathering of eagles" (along with some chickenhawks), have been shrieking about a dirty f'ing hippy threat to the Vietnam War Memorial during yesterdays Protest March to the Pentagon. Of course, no such thing occured, and 'dozens of eagles' were there to protect the integrity of their damaged psyches and the President.

So typical – find an illogical threat from your paranoid perspective, hype the threat to unimaginable levels, then show up and defeat your strawman, then declare victory and go home. They were greeted as liberators, I tell you!
With no more ~30-35% of Americans supporting the war, it's not exactly a sign of bravery to admit you want out now that an overwhelming majority agree with you. But I guess it's reassuring to know that you're not insane, although the media who continues to give creedence to the Administration and BushCo itself is increasingly losing its grip on public opinion, the war, and reality itself (including that they had 30k in attendance and were outnumbered 2:1 by "moonbats" even though the unofficial NPS estimate was ~10-20k). As usual, that damn liberal media is to blame. Fuzzy math, indeed.
