Google and Facebook
During each of the user revolts which followed Facebook’s earlier redesigns, the official response from the top had been to dig in their heels and sell the changes they had made.
Google has had a very different response, having made many changes on a near-immediate basis to directly address user concerns and suggestions.
The impact of their differing philosophies may seem insignificant now, but stances like that are what define the differences between the Apple and Microsoft of an earlier time.

The Aardvark and the Algorithm
A couple of guys work for Google and then leave. They then open a startup that is a social Q&A service.
The gist of Aardvark [vark.com] is that it looks at your social graph (a representation of your online connections with people), sees what you know (as self-reported and evident on your various profiles and content), and then submits questions for your consideration from other users. From vark.com:
When you want trusted information — product recommendations, travel suggestions, local tips, or career advice — a real conversation with a friend (or friend-of-friend) can be much more helpful than searching the web.

Steve Jobs saw his shadow.
To be fair, I think that the iPad will be a success for Apple, but will not reverse Apples sliding mobile market share. Job’s made some statements in a private forum that have since leaked out which address some of the criticisms.
Jobs on Google:
When it comes to Google , Jobs is mad at them for trying to “kill the iPhone.” “We did not enter the search business,” he said. “They entered the phone business. Make no mistake: they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them.” [you mean like they are doing to say, Amazon? -rzklkng]

- Then vs. now: How prices have changed since 1999 – During the subsequent decade, the stock market made us rich as kings, then poor as church mice. We've taken a look back to see how the years have affected the price of 50 things we buy, or wish we could buy. Thanks to inflation, it takes around $1.30 to buy what $1 bought in 1999.

- Track Visitor Engagement using Google Analytics! | Web Analytics Demystified – Keep in mind, what I’m describing in this post is not a full-blown measure of Visitor Engagement for a lot of reasons. Still, as I’m kicking it around it appears to be a pretty good start and per my entire approach towards measures of engagement, I’d rather have all of you banging on the idea than work in a vacuum.
So how does it work?

Measuring the Return on Investment of Social Media
There have been some very good posts (which will show up as bookmarked in my Daily Links at some point today ) about the ROI of Social Media. It’s clearly time to focus on the contribution to the bottom line and not just the touchy-feely un-measurables.
I haven’t thought through the metrics with the exception of advertising. If we operate under the rules that Google has given us, we earn more money from Adsense advertising based on our PageRank and the popularity of our content.

Adding Gadget by URL to Google Waves from iGoogle
It seems that if you can add a module to your iGoogle homepage, there’ is a decent chance that you can add that module as a gadget to a Google Wave.
Go to “Add stuff” from iGoogle and browse to a gadget you like. After selecting the gadget, click “share this gadget” and then click “copy and paste a link to this gadget”.

After switching to Google Wave, create a new Wave and then click “add gadget by URL”. Paste the URL, and trim everything out except the string that starts with http:// and ends in *.xml.
