Cultivating a Renewed Culture War Has Consequences

Others have stated that the pick of Palin as VP is an overt dog-whistle to the hard-right.  I don’t doubt that at all.

Karl Rove has been oft-mocked in regards to his statements of “the math” during the 2006 Election.  Rove’s thesis was that the American voters were tired of corruption - this being the alleged driving force behind the Siegelman corruption case as well as the US Attorney Scandal.  Rove was right, but he wasn’t necessarily correct.  We know how 2006 turned out.

The Inconvenient Truths of Immigration.

June 18th, 2007 · 5 Comments

I'm ashamed to say this, but bleeding heart liberal that I am, I have no real minority friends.  No people of color were at my wedding.  I don't share any hobbies or interests with people from other lands.  So I can't fall back on my legion of brown, red, and yellow allies.  I do have plenty of coworkers, classmates, employees, and acquaintances, but no real friends to speak of.

Breaking:: NJ is for Gay American Lovers!!

October 25th, 2006 · No Comments

Via Philly.com, hot off the wire:

New Jersey's Supreme Court has ruled same-sex couples are entitled to the same rights as heterosexuals in New Jersey, but that lawmakers must determine whether the state will honor gay marriage or some other form of civil union.

And the right wing lunatics will promptly rile up the base about men marriaging toaster ovens, which will turn off the independent voters even more.  Which will backfire like Limbaughs attack on Michael J. Fox.  Causing MORE independent voters (than the estimated 2:1) to break for the opposition party.  Maybe they can work this further into helping the terrorists, making the US a socialist state, and the greater war on Christmas…
Those that oppose it are idiots.  The one state who does it will become a gay tourist mecca.
Plus, look at the effects of gay marriage on the economy.  You need batchelor/batchelorette parties, gay bridal showers, gay weddings, gay vacations… Wedding are a $4 BILLION dollar industry.  You've now added millions of people who can get married.  Those gay newlyweds will need to buy gay houses, go to IKEA, decorate, and so on.  And if things don't work out, then there's gay divorce.  It's a win-win all around.
