Crazification Factor and Conspiracies, v. Chrysler Dealers

Certain segments of our gun hoarding and black helicopter fearing populus is concerned that politics may have been the driving consideration as to which Chrysler dealerships got the ax, with 92% of the fallen being Republican political donors (blind to the fact that the overwhelming majority – 88% of all dealers are GOP fans!).  Do they really think in addition to the failing economy, Supreme Court vacancy, need for healthcare reform, and, oh, by the way two wars with a couple in the works, the administration has time to play politics with closing dealers?

The manufacturers have long had lists of dealers they wish would close up and go away, but the Congressional support, the dealer lobby, and state franchise laws prevent them from doing so.  The manufacturers are wisely taking advantage of the opportunity present in a crisis to thin the less viable dealers.

Jalopnik contributor UDMan posts the five factors contributing to the closure decision:

  1. Financial Viability
  2. Dealership Upkeep and Appearance
  3. Competing Brands at the Same Location
  4. Number of Units Sold
  5. Customer Satisfaction Scores

There’s likely something to be said about the GOP’s about the Republican social, economic, and leadership ideologies and the conditions of their dealerships, as well as the relationship of dealers to domestic manufacturers as compared to conservatives and the government.

All of this will be useful to consider tomorrow as we find out the details of General Motors’ bankruptcy filing tomorrow…
