  • Joe in the Spotlight – The Caucus Blog – NYTimes.com – Turns out that “Joe the Plumber,” as he became nationally known when Senator John McCain made him a theme at Wednesday night’s third and final presidential debate, may run a plumbing business but he is not a licensed plumber. His full name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher. And he owes a bit in back taxes.
  • Obsidian Wings: The Corner: Objectively Pro-Socialist – Seriously: given all the fretting on the right about Obama's possible socialist leanings, of which I have seen precisely no evidence, you'd think they would have noticed that someone has recently been taking steps that are genuinely socialist. And that someone isn't our guy; he's theirs.

The moral of this story is: there are several roads to socialism. One is to try to bring it about. There is, as I said, no evidence that Obama wants to do that. But another is to govern so disastrously that drastic steps like nationalizing banks look like the least bad option. That was the Bush administration's route.

  • Philebrity: Readers Cameraphone Expanded Edition: This Must Be The Place – Man on the street video from various Phillies NLCS after-parties.
  • Chaos, Complexity, Kant and Mill
  • The World According To Americans – Featured Picture on BuzzFeed – Various maps.
  • Star Trek Reveals Galore: Kirk, Spock, Nero, Full Crew and More! « FirstShowing.net – I've got a good feeling that these photos are all from the full trailer that is debuting in front of Quantum of Solace in just under a month. With the film originally scheduled to hit theaters in December (before being moved to next summer) and the massive amount of time since we last saw anything from this, it's very exciting to know we'll get a full trailer with lots of actual finished footage from the movie. And I must admit, all of these look stunning so far, the kind of photos I needed to see to get in the mood for Star Trek again.
