  • Daily Kos: State of the Nation: It’s not just 600,000 in Ohio: LA, FL, MI, KS, NM, CO, and NV - Colorado dumped ONE FIFTH of all voter registrations — the largest in history. Florida is refusing to accept 85,000 new registrants — overwhelmingly blacks. New Mexico: purged half of the democrats in Mora county (Hispanics) and 600.000 mailers were returned. Ohio & Nevada are scrubbing tens of 1000s of voters who lost their homes to foreclosures. (Kerry lost by a mere 10-votes per district in Ohio).
  • The MPAA Hates Kevin Smith | The A.V. Club - Okay, so maybe the MPAA thinks America can handle the sight of shirtless Dane Cook receiving oral sex, but not fully-clothed Seth Rogen. Or Elizabeth Banks. And they're right: I mean, you can't deny the raw douchebagguality (That's Douchebag + Sexuality. Portmanteau alert!) of Dane Cook.
  • TPM: Why Palin’s Interview With ABC Is Already A Farce - Political interviews are never done like this. Because it makes the questioning entirely at the discretion of the person being interviewed and their handlers. The interviewer has to be on their best behavior, at least until the last of the 'multiple interviews' because otherwise the subsequent sittings just won't happen. For a political journalist to agree to such terms amounts to a form of self-gelding. The only interviews that are done this way are lifestyle and celebrity interviews. And it's pretty clear that that is what this will be.

  • RACE! | Young Philly Politics - I don't know if running a 'post-racial campaign' is really the answer, if that means ignoring race as an issue. Yes, it must be handled very carefully, and yes, it is unfair to expect one man to lead America back to a discussion of race that it perpetually tries to ignore. But, there has to be some strategy for this, right? In Northeast Philly it appears to be telling voters that he is half-white, half-black. (In case it is not obvious, I say that somewhat tongue-in cheek.) While I respect the efforts to try and get Obama in office, that doesn't seem like a particularly good plan to me, and only re-emphasizes and validates the underlying issue: that a lot of people are racist. It might not be the kind of racism that the Country is used to seeing, but, it probably is pretty familiar for folks in Philadelphia.
