Rudy Giuliani has released his new "12 Commitments to America", a revised "Contract with America". It's pure pandering, a slow pitch out to the Reagan Democrats deep in centerfield, part of the political center that no longer exists.
No Republican has ever delivered. They have to fail and blame everyone else. It's the way they get reelected, portraying themselves as the underdog, all the while being the one's holding both the strings and the pocketbook.
Those points are great soundbites, but then what? The first one is the one that ruins any Republican candidate - Not addressing Iraq. In fact, Rudy said the following:
“Iraq may get better; Iraq may get worse. We may be successful in Iraq; we may not be. I don’t know the answer to that. That’s in the hands of other people.”
Any candidate who advocates the status quo in Iraq or who doesn't have a vision and plan that gets us out is going to fail. Miserably.
