I've written about Presidential Signing Statements previously, their history , and the repeated use (abuse?) of them by George W. Bush. I was curious about the sharing of concepts between them, so I did the following.
First, I visited Coherent Babble, which has the full-text of the signing statements in various formats. I selected the "unannotated text version", excluding outside links and reference materials.
Then (inside of your text editor of choice) I used the "Find and Replace" function to delete some commonly used phrases, such as "The President's Signing Statement on", "[PDF available at]", and '[link available at www.whitehouse.gov]". I then saved the results as an unformated *.txt file. I also copied the entirety of the text to my clipboard.
I then visited TagCrowd , and pasted the entirety of the statements in the box provided, selected the relavent options (block common words, show frequencies, group similar words, and show 100 tags). These are the results:
What does this tell you about the ideology and culture of this White House?
