After YEARS of those of us DFH (that's Dirty Effing Hippies) have been clamoring for the impeachment of SOMEONE, that SOMEONE has to be accountable for this mindnumbing incompetence, it appears that some conservatives and/or Republicans are starting to say the I-word. Not only that, but some of the establishment journalists as well.
I was absolutely ELATED when I heard that Bush wasn't firing Gonzalez. "Sonny" was willing to go to the mattresses for "Fredo".
The last couple of weeks as a stubborn President stands by his most incompetent lackey (Gonzalez) during one of the most flagrant abuses of power must have been the straw on the proverbial camels back. Throw in the eclipse of the US stocl market by that of Europe, the non-military resolution (not requiring US intervention) and return of the 15 captured Briton military personnel from Iran, and finally the impetent rage of Bush in the Rose Garden whining about the Democrats not letting him have his way.
I've always maintained that once the mainstream pundits turn, it's over. Joe Klein, although a wanker, finally swears off the Kool-Aid. (FYI, it's really safe to pile-on and get your cheapshots when he's at a ~30% approval rating – where were you the last, I dunno, five-years?
The more we compare this Presidency to Watergate, Perjurygate, and Iran-Contra (see this chart on Blogpulse), the more likely impeachment appears to be the only remedy…
