Akkam’s Razor

Whilst bored one day, I found myself browsing through the various Conservative-slash-Republican Facebook groups. And I spotted something curious…

Aside from the pathalogical love for Ronald Reagan (where the oldest among them, at 21, would have still been in diapers when he left office), Jesus Christ (a significant number are Catholic), the military -homoerotic-opus Top Gun, and the implausible Conservative wetdream, Red Dawn, I was extremely intrigued by the number of JFK quotes. Why?

There some possible, purely deductive explanations.

Possibly, they are the offspring of 1970s/1980s College Republicans Reagan Democrats Urban Religious (Catholic) Conservatives "Perceived" victims of affirmative action & special biases Supervisory Blue- & White Collar Non-Union Labor Anti-PC sectarians Second & third generation of American caucasian immigrants The Foxnews/Red-Radio noise- machine.

All of those are plausible explanations for their membership in Red America, but aside for some possible Irish-Catholic connection, I can see no reason why they would love JFK.

He won office via theft, his morality makes Clinton look like a saint, and he's was a member of the old Democratic machine (via his father). Oliver Stone showed us that the far-right felt he was too soft on Communism. If anything, JFK should be their vision of a primitive Bill Clinton, not a quoted, wise sage on a Facebook page.
