The Battle for Freedom will be fought by animated heroes.

Does anybody find it ironic that all of the “battles” being fought in the social sphere seem to be fought by animated characters?

I’ve just started watching South Park again, and so far I’ve seen critiques against just about every single organized religion (Christianity, Scientology, Islam, and Judaism), both Family Guy and South Park have taken on Censorship, as well as Family Guy taking on Gay Marriage (and the Simpsons have as well).  Now the mutants and other superheroes in the Marvel Universe are going to be taking on the Patriot Act.  Via BoingBoing:

Marvel to tackle Patriot Act in funnybook miniseries

Memepunks sez, “Marvel’s forthcoming miniseries ‘Civil War’ pits superhero against superhero in the security vs. freedom debate. The Patriot act calls for the registration of all superheroes as WMDs. Any that refuse to register are branded fugitives. Ironman leads the force of government-controlled heroes, and Captain America leads the forces of freedom.”  Link  (Thanks, Memepunks!)
