snow job
An effort to deceive, overwhelm, or persuade with insincere talk, especially flattery.
The entire presentation was a complete snow job.
Let's be practical: In our business, we thrive when we tell you things you didn't know and need to. If we spout party lines or distort the facts, people will catch on and we'll fail.
They are probably also hoping that the noise over his appointment will distract people from the day-to-day incompetence of the administration. The press and Democrats would be well advised to ignore who Tony Snow is and instead focus on the context of what he's saying, and ignore all of his previous on-air commentary. Let the blogging pundits eviscerate Snow based on his "journalistic" legacy, and let his public record challenge that of the breathless conservative whores who herald the Administrations accomplishments.
They might also hope that the press may be gentler to one of their own than they were to poor Flounder (Scott McClellan) – the press needs to realize that the conservative noise machine, be they print, radio, or televesion will exclusively get all scoops, and it's high time they start reporting truthiness and not be content in being FOXNEWS-lite. There's only room for one, and that jobs taken.
