Is it too soon to be talking about the “War on Easter”?

January 4th, 2006 · No Comments

I wonder what tack they’ll take?  Will they take offense to the chocolate, the Easter Eggs, and Peter Cottontail?  Will they demand that TBS, like they do with “A Christmas Story” every December 25th, broadcast a constant showing of “the Passion of the Christ”?  Will we see blowup crucifixes on the lawns of Christians, and block the airing of standard Easter fare such as the Sound of Music, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the Wizard of Oz?  Will they go to great pains to illustrate the reason for the season, have large dinners and Thursday nights, a betrayal in the garden, do public reenactments of the “Scourging at the Pillar”, the “Stations of the Cross” at lunchtime on Friday, and culminate with nailing someone to the cross, like they do in some South American countries right around 3pm?  Come to think of it, they could make a reality show on it – “Who wants to Crucify a Millionaire”.

Will parents make a crypt at home, place a make believe body of Jesus inside, and take the children down in the morning to discover the body is not there!?!

Will they attempt to show how those damn dirty hippy secular liberals are de-Christing yet another holiday, with their pagan-influenced Easter celebrations, like the original celebration being a ancient-Saxon springtime celebration in honor of their god of the season, Eastre.

Will they show that said Easter Bunny is nothing more than the earthly representative of goddess Eastre?  Will they show that the Easter egg traditionally is a pagan symbol of rebirth, traditionally wrapped in gold, or if one were a peasant, wrapped in the petals of a flower?

(Second Century Missionary Christians stealthed their faith by weaving it into Christianity – they’ll probably leave that part out.  Never mind the other interesting coincidences, like how EVERY pagan religion had some sort of springtime goddess, with one having a virgin birth who subsequently died and was resurrected each year.  Everything regarding the specifics of Easter was manufactured between the second century by missionaries and the fourth century by the Council of Nicea).

There is much to do, and the communist terrorist secularlist never sleep!
