Wow, what is going on?  Are we finally seeing the beginning of the end of the darkest period of American history?

Bush’s OWN church comes out against the war.

The American people have finally woken up and realized that Bush and these Republicans may not be the solution.  (Keep in mind, some of that majority think Bush is not being conservative enough.)

GOPUSA henchman Richard Viguere is turning the social and economic conservatives against Bush?

The GOP Legislature and the White House is turning back to the same old, tired strategies - “everyone saw the same intelligence on Iraq (which of course, is not true), .  How long till the next “captured Al Qaeda lieutenant, renewed terror threats, and shrill warnings of mushroom clouds coming out of Iran, Syria, or France.

The Republican MAJORITY in the House of Representatives can’t get it together in sufficient numbers to pass their budget.  Similarly, some Republican Senators, McCain specifically, plan to oppose the pro-torture positions of the White House.

Republicans, ever the proponents of a strong military, are doing more to destroy our armed forces than any other period of American history.  Time will show that the overextension and redeployments of our soldiers, the degredation of their equipment, the lowering of the bar for enlistment (to include high school dropouts), and the eventual raping, shrinking, and underfunding of post-war support programs for the (eventual) returning troops.  The crowning moment - ceasing the half-century practice of inviting Veteran groups to speak before Congress on Veterans Day.

Hardcore wingnuts, both secular (Bill O’Reilly) and religious (Pat Robertson) are clearly imploding, with Robertson wishing the wrath of God on Dover, PA, for throwing out the anti-science school board and O’Reilly calling for Al Qaeda to bomb San Francisco

The tax policies that Bush is talking about disproportionally benefits those earning the highest incomes at the cost of middle class America (mortage interest and health care deductions).  That probably won’t poll well.

If only the Democrats had some charismatic leader to inspire the country - it’s not enough to simply sit on the sidelines and watch your opposition implode.
