Akkam’s Razor

Aside from the usual uses (think Paris Hilton), I guess there are a lot of good uses of camera phones that really didn’t exist before.

• Saw someone that did something that inspired you? Capture it.
• Saw an ad in a magazine, a new haircut, or something that you want to get back to? Keep it.
• Don’t have a way to jot down a web address or phone number? Take a picture of it.
• Working on a project that requires disassembly of parts? Take pictures of what goes where so you can put it back together again.
• Doing something that you need to be able to document and share with others. Document the process and share it with pictures to go along with written dialog.
• Negotiating a big ticket item where formal documents showing your negotiations don’t exist? Take a picture of them.

I’ve also heard of camera phones that have the ability to do OCR (Optical Character Recognition) straight from the phone, although most OCR suites can recognize text in an image. I’ve also heard of programs that allow you to snap a picture of an items barcode and then the phone will run off and fetch prices from Froogle, eBay, and Amazon.
