Akkam’s Razor

BoingBoing has a first person account of conditions in the Astrodome as reported by Serbian war documentarian Jasmina Tesanovic:

Back from my car dealership days, I heard a story from the older guys regarding some less than admirable sales tactics from back in the 1980s. For the record, the 80s must have been a wonderfull time in “the business” - few laws, no oversight, and a wild west mentality.

Mailers were sent out to people to come to a barbecue at the dealership - on the condition that people sign up. The dealership would then pull credit reports on everybody - I’m not clear if anyone consented to that - and if you had good credit, you got a green ballon, if not, you got a red balloon. That way, salespeople didn’t waste their time with any bums (ie. credit degenerates). So I wonder what’s going on with the Astrodome?
