TVNewser: White House gave networks 1-days notice

April 29th, 2005 · No Comments

The more and more I think about, the more obvious it is to me that this is clearly an attempt to bolster the president’s approval ratings to avoid the “lame duck” label so early into his second term. Edit: Yesterday, the 28th, was the 99-day mark. The maelstorm of bad news, from inflation and stagflation worries, the deadlocks on John Bolton and Social Security, the albatross of Tom Delay hanging around his neck, the shrill voices from the American Taliban, and the burden of high gas prices going into the summer travel season, would certainly push his ratings further south.
On a side note, I would love to hear exactly what happens (and the negotiations) when the White House decides they want to have a press conference during sweeps. Jarvis?
