Brock Yates (Car and Driver columnist) must have designs on being the Rush Limbaugh of the automotive press set…for some reason, more than a handful of his pre- and post-election columns have included digs at either John Kerry or blue-state liberals and media-elites.
Brock, you are far from victim here. No one is keeping you from owning a 3-ton SUV with 600hp. No one is forcing you to drive anemic 3-cylinder Chevy Metros. You are an author, columnists, “script writer” (yes, Cannonball Run, although I’m not sure if you’d take credit for the sequels), you are more of that which you claim to despise than you think.
Last time I checked, C&D is available in the heathen filled blue-state metro-areas as Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, DC. And in my cursory observations on area roads, parking lots, and highways, I see plenty of pickups and SUVs, but hybrids and gas sippers? Not so much.
And what, exactly does Walmart have to do with C&D? Leave the punditry to the “experts”, like Hannity, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, and Ann Coulter. Unless, of course, your waiting with baited breath for Robert Novak’s breathtaking review on the 2006 Autoshows.
