I would firmly expect that come Monday, the internets will be buzzing over weekend stories of blogging payola. So here are the facts that you need to know.

Armstrong Williams was paid $240k in taxpayers in a contract which was given by the Department of Education to promote the President’s No Child Left Behind Act in his punditry.

Markos (of DailyKos) and Jerome Armstrong (of myDD) were paid $3k per month by the Dean campaign as analysts. Jerome stopped blogging at the time, and Markos plainly disclosed the fact from the very beginning. The right wing pundits, after a blogspot blog from Zephyr appeared, highlighting this one-year old plus story, are all atwitter, making correlations to Armstrong Williams, a la “they did it too”.

We all know what your mom said about “if every one else jumped of the bridge, would you?” Secondly, one was paid by a campaign, and properly disclosed, whereas the second was done with taxpayer money and only uncovered after citizen sleuthing.
