If you are wondering why your favorite torrent tracker site is down, you need to be reading the news. BitTorrent trackers, particularly the most eggregious copyright infringers were shut down by the MPAA in cooperation with several friendly foreign government.

You can find a list of what sites were shut down, as well as what remains up here at BitTorrent Sites.

If you don’t agree that these sites should be shut down, and that the various media companies that have not truly embraced new business models (MPAA, RIAA, etc.), I would recommend that you take any music or DVDs that you bought for anyone this Christmas as gifts and promptly return them. The only way anyone in this country (being the USA) is ever going to take notice is to hit them where it hurts - the wallet.

Note: A friendly AKR reminder - stealing copyrighted material is bad. That includes music, movies, and software. However, there are several non-infringing uses of BitTorrent that are perfectly legal, such as the downloading of Linux distubutions as well as Government document sharing. This is a protocol that should remain available and under-development.
