Some early pre-debate thoughts…

October 8th, 2004 · No Comments

Tonight, the candidates will meet in a “town-hall” style debate in St. Louis. As always, I have something to say…

For starters, I want a president who is going to make me feel dumb, not smart. Guess what George Dubya makes me feel.

I don’t care which candidate I’d most like to have a beer with. George is a dried up drunk and Kerry is part of the wine and cheese crowd. Although he has promised to not drink any Coors products, like “Girls Lite”.

All this talk about flip-flopping and staying the course. I want a president who can adjust his mindset and actions in the face of changing information, not one who surrounds himself with sycophants and yes-men. Bush and Cheney wanted to go to Iraq, and by golly thats what the intelligence that they showed the world said. Plenty of people said the intelligence that there was a clear link between Iraq and Al Qaeda was questionable, and that they had WMD and could convey them to to terrorists, but they didn’t listen.

Then we got to Iraq, and couldn’t find WMD. The assertations that there were WMDs switched to WMD-related programs. Then it was that Saddam was a bad man and the world is better off with him gone. Now, after the 9/11 Commission, the Kay Report, and the Dreur Report have all confirmed what Democrats “living in the world of 9/10″ have long maintained, going to Iraw RIGHT-NOW wasn’t worth it. Instead of saying “You Forgot Poland”, Kerry should tell Bush that your forgot Afghanistan, and Iran, and North Korea, all of whom possess a more immediate threat than Iraq. The fact that Bush didn’t address that 35 out of 40 countries have a greater nuclear capacity than Iraq speaks volumes.
