Dubya is certain to share the most job-losing president since Hoover title now. Only 96k jobs created, with a minimum of 150k necessary to keep up with the regular increase in the size of the workforce.

Pro-Bush pundits will point out that the unemployment rate of 5.4% is lower (?) than the rate Saint Clinton had when he faced re-election in 1996. However, what they don’t point out was that Clinton inherited an unemplyment rate of 7.3% from #41, and had lowered it to 5.4% by 1996. Bush, on the other hand, started with a rate of 4.2% before inheriting (that cunning Clinton!) the recession, with the unemployment rate rising to a high of 6.3% (in June of 2003).
